New designs on research evaluation
The Australian Council of Deans and Directors of Creative Arts (DDCA) invites you to this 2025 National Online Forum to collaboratively design a new National Evaluation Framework for creative practice research.
This 90-minute Forum builds on the work achieved at last year’s event (see Creative Matters Edition 7, 2024) where we began the conversation on what a fit-for-purpose research framework might look like. This year we continue the process and we need your input.
Ahead of the Forum, we ask that you read the document summarising last year’s discussion outcomes, and which presents the outline of the framework foundations we hope to build on with your involvement.

- Introducing framework foundations – Dr Smiljana Glisovic (University of South Australia)
- Working with data – Professor Cameron Neylon (Curtin University)
- Indices of ‘excellence’ – Professor Samantha Bennett (Australian National University)
- Creative / Practice – Professor Christopher Sainsbury (Australian National University)
- Strategic leadership for influence and legacy – Professor Craig Batty (University of South Australia)
These short presentations will set the scene for a robust and productive conversation to follow.
