I have experience in mentoring in the broad area of creative practice research, including the creative doctorate. I am a very experienced publisher, including editing books and journals. I also have a passion for nurturing future leaders.

Research interests

As an artist and an Associate Head (Research), UniSQ School of Creative Arts, my research explores how creative arts can become a catalyst for person-centred storytelling concerning social wellbeing, and cultural resiliency in light of a difficult past. My interest in visual art narratives include gender and historical trauma.

Teaching interests

As a visual artist, specialising in sculpture and installation, I explore practice-led, student-centred and Students-as-Partners (SaP) pedagogical approaches that enable students to experience immersive industry learning. I explore the ways in which visual and creative modalities can enhance higher education across undergraduate and postgraduate program development.

Mentoring interests

As a mentor, I can assist individuals who are considering or navigating academic leadership in Creative Arts; those who are interested in developing traditional research as well as their studio practice and/or exploring creative arts innovation in pedagogy within the higher education.


Research interests

My research interests sit across screen futures, extended reality and immersive sound. In addition, my interests also include how these can contribute to productive collaborations beyond the traditional screen industries including health, cultural and digital preservation and sports science.

Teaching interests include film and screen production, immersive media, post production and music technology.

Mentoring interests include academic leadership, capacity building and building collaborative teams, industry engagement, career planning and development.


Research interests

As an artist, research interests include the hybrid practices of installation/performance, notions of intimacy, risk and exchange together with ideas of play. As a curator, research into temporary public art practices, building resilient communities and ideas that intersect place and time.

Research interests

I am a multidisciplinary artist, crossing installation, large scale commissions, animation, and paper cutting. My research explores intersections between the natural environment, technology and culture. I am also particularly interested in traditional paper cutting folk art techniques, which are re-contextualises through animation and cut-out works including murals and paintings.

As a Head of a School of Creative Arts and Media with disciplines in visual arts, design, music, theatre and media and communication I am interested in creative arts pedagogy, creative practice research methodologies and interdisciplinary creative arts practice

I am currently engaged in Arts Health collaborations and Industry led research projects that engage and connect the Australian screen sector to scholarly collaborations to deliver end user outcomes. I am currently pursuing research involving Virtual Production and AI and examining the potential of developments like the Volume over green screen technologies.

Scriptwriting, Producing and Directing across fiction and non-fiction filmmaking. I have strong expertise in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching centred around Documentary praxis that connects history and theory with production and practice.

I am interested in assisting and developing researchers pursuing practice led research that involves screen production and screen research that can contribute to the Australian and international screen sectors as well as projects that enable the Arts to be embedded into the burgeoning Health and Care economy.

The dynamics between technological and social forces in art and design through experimental practice, exhibition curation and scholarly publication.

Screen futures, moving image, visual perception/multisensory perception, science-art practices and collaborations, philosophies of time (cinema/media), representation of the invisible, media archaeology, immersive media, haptic and tactile media.

A particular focus on recent graduates of PhD programmes. Curriculum design, higher degree research development and training, research planning, grant/funding application.


Research Interests

My research draws primarily on the experimental music tradition and acoustic ecology — using sound to consider listening, space, place, people and temporality. I build ambitious large-scale site-specific projects where collaboration is a key element. I share my work in recordings, performances, and installations across the globe.

Teaching Interests

I lecture and teach at undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research levels in music research, artistic research methodology, 20th and 21st century music history and culture, new music performance practices, percussion performance and improvisation.

Mentoring Interests

Collaboration is important to the arts, and to transferring knowledge across generations and practices. I learn a lot from mentoring — just like I do from teaching. It keeps ideas fresh, and inspires me to articulate my journey through creative arts and academia more clearly.
